This is a collection of things.

Some of them are mine, some inspire me.

I updated my layout again. The recursion effect is gone, and the images are now stretched to fit the width of your browser, big pictures- just how i like it.

what do you think? feedback/crit/hate?

is it disgusting that you can’t see most images entirely without scrolling? does it ruin compositions?

“Mic w/ Screen”

Daniel C. Borgman, 2013

Functional sculpture. A speaker is mounted with tension atop a stool, and wrapped tightly with a jagged-edged screen which allows visibility but restricts interaction. The screen is bound tight to the stool by 3 loops of twine. The speaker’s terminals are connected to a 4’ long 2-prong electrical cable, which is passed through a hole cut in the screen. This can be routed into an amplifier, turning the speaker into an overly-complicated microphone( transducing vibrations in the air through mechanical apparatus into electrical signals ), or routed into from an amplifier, turning it into a speaker. The prongs can also be plugged into a standard US electrical outlet, which would produce a loud popping sound from the 12" speaker as the speaker cone is shredded. Also a conceptual piece, with the components and arrangements- as well as the function and potential- symbolizing any number of narratives or concepts- personal or detached from the artist.

Straight - Ai Wei Wei

The piece is made up of about 136 tonnes of steel rebar that was removed from the ruins of Chinese schools that collapsed in the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan province that killed nearly 5,200 children. Many have blamed shoddy construction practices and outright building fraud for the children’s quake deaths.

Ai and his team spent two years straightening the pieces of steel. He then arranged them lying flat, one on top of another, to create a new topography inside the Le Zitelle complex, a room where orphan girls once sewed.
